'Avengers: Infinity War' release date, cast news 2016: Character from 'Doctor Strange' confirmed to be in movie
It looks like another character from Marvel Studios' "Doctor Strange" has been confirmed for an appearance in "The Avengers: Infinity War."
It's been known for awhile that Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Dr. Stephen Strange in "Infinity War," but new reports have surfaced that Wong (Benedict Wong), who is one of Strange's mentors in the "Doctor Strange," will also be appearing in the third "Avengers" film.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, the actor confirms that he will be taking part in "Infinity War." He says, "I'm thrilled I'm going to be in 'Infinity War.' I'm looking forward to [it], I'll tell you that one first."
Some fans think that it's only natural that the character will be making an appearance alongside Dr. Strange since he is the "Alfred" to Strange's "Batman." In the comics, Wong is the Chinese manservant of Strange who helps him with all his tasks, magical and mundane.
In the movie, Wong's role has been beefed up a bit, and he is now one of the people who will help urge Strange into a new world of magic and mysticism; Wong's role has been transformed from manservant to mentor.
As for the appearance of Strange himself, others are speculating that he will have a big part to play when the Avengers go up against the mad Titan, Thanos. His most powerful weapon, the Eye of Agamotto, is theorized to be housing the Time Infinity Stone. Since Thanos needs all the gems to complete the Infinity Gauntlet, he will have to find a way to get his hands on the Eye. Strange, on the other hand, will have to try and take it back.
"The Avengers: Infinity War" may not be coming out until May 4, 2018, but fans can watch "Doctor Strange" when it hits theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
