It looks like the production for "Attack on Titan" season 2 is at the homestretch as musical composer Hiroyuki Sawano is preparing the music for the new season.

Sawano announced on Twitter that he will be back to work on the anime again by next year, presumably around January and that he already started composition of the soundtrack.

"I have made various songs with TV series, theater version, but I am pleased to be able to produce music again with this work," he tweeted (with a rough translation through Google Translate) of "Attack on Titan" season 2.

"Recording etc. will be next year, but I am looking forward to what kind of work will be from now," he went on to say, expressing excitement about the idea of returning to the series.

The addition of the soundtrack and musical elements on a show is usually done in the final phase of the production, which means that much of "Attack on Titan" season 2 has already been completed.

This suggests that the anime is on track for a spring premiere date as announced back in July. This means that fans are finally closer to getting more episodes. After all, it has been three years since the first season of the hit anime ended. Thankfully, the ongoing manga by Hajime Isayama, on which the anime is based, helped fans get by the long wait.

In fact, major revelations have been dropped in the latest chapters of the manga such as Grisha's past, the Titan origins and the warfare from thousands of years ago that still reverberates in the present day.

There is no information as to how many episodes the "Attack on Titan" season 2 will have. It is rumored that they will cover up to the latest arc of the manga.

This would explain why the anime was delayed although there is nothing confirmed yet. The first season covered the first four story arcs with 25 episodes.
