Attack on Titan Season 2 Movie Release Date Confirmed; Prequel Set for December 2014
The excitement of "Attack On Titan" fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of the anime series has risen sky-high with the confirmation of the second season of the series.
Production started last month although there is still no official premiere date.
To further whet the appetite of AOT fans, there will be a prequel to the television anime series which is expected to start airing in December this year. Insiders said the prequel will focus on Levi's story instead of Mikasa and Eren. They said the prequel, titled "No Regrets, Birth of Levi," is vital for both Seasons 1 and 2.
Aside from the prequel, AOT will soon hit the big screen in two parts. Sources said Part 1 of the AOT movie, titled "Crimson Bow and Arrow," will be screened in theaters starting Nov. 22. The second part, "Wings of Freedom," will be released next year.
Another good news for AOT fans is the announcement that the anime's two-episode original video series will be released on Dec. 9 this year and April 9 next year together with the 15th and 16th volume of the manga series. The series will be based on the prequel manga entitled "Attack on Titan: No Regrets."
The first season of the anime series first aired on April 6, 2013 and ended on Sept. 28, 2013.
The "Attack on Titan" anime series depicts a world plagued by fearsome giant titans that grab and eat humans at random. With humanity driven to the brink of extinction by the titans, three friends – Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert – decide to do their share in saving the world. They join the military – divided into three branches, the Recon Corps, the Military Police, and the Garrison – as humankind wages an all-out war against the monstrous titans.
Although the scenes are messy, bloody and horrific, fans love AOT for the excitement and thrills it brings.
"Attack on Titan" creator Hajime Isayama recently won the award for the Best American Edition of Foreign Material category during the 2014 Harvey Awards. AOT was nominated for the award in July together with Taiyo Matsumoto's "Sunny," Shigeru Mizuki's "Showa: A History of Showa Japan," Matz's "The Killer: Volume 4" by Studio Archaia, and Ulli Lust's "Today Is the Last Day of the Rest of Your Life" by Fantagraphics Books.
