'Ash vs Evil Dead' season 2 episode 5 spoilers: Ash goes to prison as Baal comes to Elk Grove
"Ash vs Evil Dead" hits its halfway mark next Sunday, and it looks like things are about to get real. After the intense battles that made up the previous installment, which pitted Ash (Bruce Campbell) and Ruby (Lucy Lawless) against the things they most love, the town sheriff steps in to wield his authority in his longtime rival's face.
Sheriff Emery (Stephen Lovatt) has had it in for Ash ever since the latter came back to Elk Grove. After the previous episode's fiasco, which on top of everything else has put the sheriff's daughter Lacey's (Pepi Sonuga) life in danger, Sheriff Emery finally has an excuse to bring Ashy Slashy to justice.
According to the episode synopsis, his loyal cohorts Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo), and tag-along ally Ruby, will devise a plan to break him out of prison.
But they will soon realize that busting Ash out is the least of their problems when both Ash and Ruby sense some "bad juju" in the police precinct. As it turns out, the fiery creature that shot out of the Delta's trunk in the previous episode was indeed the infamous demon Baal (Joel Tobeck) and he's more than ready to rage havoc in Ash's hometown.
As Ruby explains in the episode preview, Baal has the ability to take over a person's body, jumping from one vessel to another.
"And right now, he could be in any one of you," Ruby adds before declaring that nobody will be allowed to leave the precinct until Baal is dead.
Whose body could Baal be using? Pablo seems to be the most likely contender since he has also forged some deep connections with the Necronomicon, and he has, after all, unwittingly summoned Baal. Could everything that happened in the previous episode have been part of Baal's machinations to distract both Ash and Ruby so that he could get through to Pablo? Will Pablo ever be free of the Necronomicon?
"Ash vs. Evil Dead" season 2 episode 5 titled "Confinement" airs on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. EDT on Starz.
