'Ash vs Evil Dead' season 2 episode 1 spoilers: Ash goes back home, teams up with Ruby
"Ash vs Evil Dead" is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, Oct. 2, but STARZ has already released the episode a little earlier online.
When the previous season ended, Ash (Bruce Campbell) and his crew were off to Jacksonville as per agreement with Ruby (Lucy Lawless), who offered them a way out if Ash promised not to meddle with her affairs. The second season opened with the deadites crashing Ash and his crew's keg party. They knew then that the fun was over and that it was time to face reality once again.
The upcoming episode titled "Home" offers a view into the show's chainsaw-wielding hero's past. His father Brock (Lee Majors) is introduced for the first time and he is exactly like an older version of Ash. The latter seems to have harbored some resentment for his old man for not standing up for him when the whole town labeled him a psycho after he hacked up all of his friends.
This is exactly how the people of Elk Grove remember him best, except for Linda (Michelle Hurd), who is Ash's former high school girlfriend. She, apparently, is not the Linda whom Ash took to the cabin and later on killed some thirty years ago. Hurd's Linda is the girl Ash left for the other Linda who died by his hands.
It is eventually revealed that Ash and his crew were summoned to Elk Grove by Ruby, who has, apparently, lost control of the demon spawns she created in season 1. Ruby needs their help to retrieve the Necronomicon and send the spawns back to hell. Their unlikely alliance is sealed when Ruby kills one of the demon spawns with her Kandarian dagger to save Ash.
"Ash vs Evil Dead" season 2 promises a bigger, bloodier ride as the deadites take over Ash's hometown. Will their appearance finally clear Ash's name and make the people of Elk Grove understand the reason why he killed his friends before?
A preview of the full episode has been made available on STARZ's official website a little ahead of its official airing on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. EDT on STARZ.
