'Arrow' season 5 spoilers: No second chances for Oliver and Felicity in upcoming installment
Here's sad news for shippers of "Olicity." While "big things" have been planned for Felicity in the fifth season of "Arrow," Oliver Queen will not be part of, albeit romantically.
Season 4 saw Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) almost getting married, but before the season ended, the two broke up. Their breakup came in the throes of Team Arrow's breakup, too. What's ironic is that now, they are the only ones left to pick up where the team left off.
The ex-lovers will try to recruit new team members, with Ollie training the new recruits even as he himself is busy as mayor of Star City. These new vigilantes-in-training will definitely give Oliver all the help he can get to keep the city safe from new villains.
For Felicity, though, her storyline will no longer be hinged on her love affair with Oliver or any type of relationship for that matter. Season 5 will see her going beyond Olicity and her connection to her father. In addition, executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that Felicity will be dealing with something else in season 5.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Guggenheim said that aside from training the new recruits, Felicity will be dealing with the deaths that happened in Havenrock in season 4. Felicity feels the deaths were her fault since she's the one who made the ultimate decision that saved millions of lives but resulted in thousands of deaths in the process.
"It's really new territory for her, and we're very excited about it. Some big things are going to happen with Felicity," Guggenheim said.
Nevertheless, he did not elaborate on what she will be seen doing. What he did tease is that Felicity will be a key figure in "Arrow" season 5.
"Arrow" season 5 episode 1 will be on Oct. 5 on The CW, and it will be titled "Legacy." Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), as well as the revelation of new villains, will be the core of the premiere episode.
