Arrow Season 3 Spoilers, Rumors: Oliver Battles More Fearsome Villain in New Season
After Oliver Queen, aka Arrow, finally succeeded in rounding up all the bad guys in Starling city in the finale of the second season of "Arrow," the hero has little time to rest as he confronts a new and deadlier foe in the next season of the hit CW TV series.
"Arrow" will return for its third season on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
Confirmed reports revealed that DC Universe's radical supervillain Ra's al Ghul will be the principal villain in Arrow 3 He will be played by Australian actor Matt Nable.
The superhero and drama TV series will feature other new characters when it returns for its brand new season. Among them is ex-Superman Brandon Routh who will play Ray Palmer, aka The Atom.
"Supernatural" alum Amy Gumenick also joins the cast as Carrie Cutter, also known as the Cupid, a character reportedly obssessed with The Arrow.
Other new characters this season include Wildcat/Ted Grant (played by J.R. Ramirez), Felicity's mother (Charlotte Ross), Maseo (Karl Yune), Katana (Rila Fukushima), a new Count Vertigo (Peter Stormare), Felicity's college ex (Nolan Funk), Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang (Nick Tarabay) and Mark Shaw/Manhunter (David Cubitt).
Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim said Arrow 3 will see Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (played by Stephen Amell) establishing identity as a superhero.
"If season one was about Oliver going from vengeance to vigilante, and season two was vigilante to hero, season three is about identity," Guggenheim told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's the first season where this theme of identity is not only about Oliver but also about all the other characters," he added.
As he establishes his identity in the new season, Oliver will also find himself drawing closer to Felicity. In Season 2, it can be recalled that Oliver confessed his love to Felicity, but later on said that it was part of a plan to trick Slade. In the third season, insiders said the two will try to engaage in a real relationship.
Fans of Oliver and Felicity will get more clues of what's going to happen in Season 3 with the newly released "Arrow" Season 3 promo video, entitled "Some Things Never Die." The video shows the pair about to kiss.
Meanwhile, a new Arrow 3 trailer released just this month actually showed Oliver passionately kissing Felicity.
The trailer features lots of action scenes including gunfights, arrow shootings, vase breakings, and more chases.
