"How I identify with that is kind of being...a bit of an outcast. You see, he wasn't really too accepted...I wasn't too accepted," Momoa shared.
Momoa explained that he grew up in a small town in Iowa where there weren't a lot of people from different cultures. "I was born in Hawaii, so I would go see my father...[I] just wasn't accepted on the local side by some people because I wasn't raised in Hawaii. I identify as being that outcast and not really fitting into two different worlds," Momoa added.
Based on the comic series, Arthur was the son of a lighthouse keeper and the exiled Queen of Atlantis. Arthur was a half-human, half-Atlantean who was torn between two identities which made him struggle in making sense of his identity.
"Aquaman" is expected to debut on July 27, 2018.
