Aquaman, Batman v Superman Release Date, Latest News: Jason Momoa Looks 'Bad Ass' in Aquaman New Poster
The first official picture of Jason Momoa as Aquaman was released on Friday as the DC Comics character is set to make his debut in Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice."
A photo of Jason Momoa was tweeted by Snyder, who will direct the film. Momoa is known for his role as Khal Drogo in the HBO fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones" and Conan in "Conan the Barbarian."
Aquaman is one of DC Comics' superheroes who will reportedly be making small appearances in the movie, which will mainly focus on the battle between Batman and Superman, to be played by Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, respectively.
It is said that Momoa will only have two scenes, which Movie Web described as nothing more than a glorified cameo.
However, Aquaman fans will be happy to learn that a solo Aquaman movie is on the drawing board for released in 2018. Aquaman will also appear in 2017's 'Justice League Part 1" and 2019's "Justice League Part 2."
On Aquaman's "new surfer look" with the tattoos and long hair, the film's costume designer Michael Wilkinson told FooTab that it was an honor to take the job and be part of the superhero film project."It has been a thrill and an honor to bring this iconic character to life for a modern audience. Zack Snyder has a brilliant vision for making this character powerful and relevant. I enjoyed designing a costume that reflects this vision and honors the character's rich legacy," said Wilkinson who also worked with Synder on "Man of Steel," "Sucker Punch," "Watchmen," and "300."
Scott Mendelson, contributor to Forbes Magazine, lauded the character's "bad ass" design and compared it to the Aquaman character from the old "Super Friends" show, saying: "If you talk to a kid who isn't old enough to have had Super Friends be their first (and for much of their life, only) exposure to Aquaman, they already think Aquaman is pretty cool, or at-least decidedly not-lame. The photo is arguably least surprising to today's kids because they didn't grow up in an era where Aquaman was a figure of mockery and derision. As such, the biggest advantage that Warner Bros. has in terms of making the big-screen variation of Aquaman relevant to today's moviegoers is that the kids of today already expect Aquaman to be cool."
Momoa will join Gal Gadot, who will play Wonder Woman as part of the cast. Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jeremy Irons will also star in the superhero action film.
Snyder is expected to launch more teasers as the film's official trailer has yet to be released.
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be shown on the big screen in March 2016
