Apple AirPods release date & latest news: AirPods coming out before Christmas is possible
Some Apple customers may have given up hope on getting their Apple AirPods this month, but AppleInsider has reported that there is a possibility that the wireless earphones may come out before Christmas.
The publication revealed that influential Apple analyst John Gruber has heard that Apple will release the AirPods this month, but stocks will be limited.
"They are getting very close to missing the holidays. I have heard just in the last 24 hours, not from like a very well placed little birdie but from a birdie, that there's a possibility, that there are whispers in Apple, among people who work at Apple retail, that they might actually come in 'the next few days,'" Gruber stated.
Now, before people gets their hopes up, it should be noted that Apple hasn't made an official announcement yet. Gruber also admitted that his source isn't exactly a well-placed one. However, AppleInsider also noted that their retail sources told them that they have already received a few pre-release AirPods for customers to test, and they were only waiting for the "go" signal. Has Apple worked out all the kinks that had forced them to delay the release of the wireless earphones?
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal has cited that someone familiar with the AirPods development told them that Apple is still struggling with a number of issues. The company is still trying to make sure that both earpieces receive audio simultaneously, and they have yet to address the problems that will arise if one of the earpieces goes missing, or what happens when the battery dies.
WiFore Wireless Consulting's Nick Hunn told the Wall Street Journal that Apple may be facing a major problem "because they've missed the Christmas market with what had the potential to be a really sexy product." "It's something that's blindsided them," Hunn added.
Can Apple get the AirPods ready for commercial distribution before the month ends? Find out in the next few days.
