Annabelle Movie Spoilers; Film a Hollywood Box Office Hit Taking $66m
Annabelle premiered last September 29, 2014 in Hollywood, Los Angeles. It is an American supernatural horror movie, which is also a spin-off of the equally-popular horror film, The Conjuring. The film, produced by James Wan, directed by John R. Leonetti and written by Gary Dauberman, proved a big hit at the box office and has been praised as one of the best horror scare movies of the year.
The movie, with the tagline, "Before the conjuring, there was Annabelle", reveals the back story of how the doll became haunted.
The film begins with Annabelle Wallis (who plays the role of Mia) being pregnant with her first child. She receives a doll as a gift from her husband Ward Horton (who plays the role of John). Mia has an extensive collection of dolls, which are all displayed in the baby's room.
One night while the couple was sleeping, Mia wakes up to a loud bang and witnesses what appears to be a murder next door. Her husband wakes up and rushes to the neighbor's house, leaving Mia behind.
Before he could run back to the house, a man and a woman, who appear to be members of a cult, has already broke into their home, the man stabbing Mia in the stomache. Meanwhile, the woman commits suicide for no apparent reason, with the doll in her hands. The man is shot to death as the police breaks into the scene.
A drop of blood from the woman who committed suicide is seen dripping towards the doll's face. From then on, the doll becomes possessed. The evil spirit that possesses the doll does everything in its powers to get Leah, the couple's baby.
Meanwhile, Annabelle, which was widely and heavily marketed, was expected to make more than $10 million in sales. As of October 8, 2014, however, the film had already earned a total of $43,922,000 in North America and $23,000,000 in other countries, for a worldwide total of $66,922,000.
