'American Horror Story' season 6 air date, spoilers news: Theme may have finally been revealed
The theme for "American Horror Story" season 6 has finally been revealed, if the latest reports are anything to go by.
A guide by Comcast and Xfinity lists the new season as "American Horror Story: The Mist." TVGuide also referred to the new season of the FX horror anthology in their previous issue with the same subtitle.
For those who missed it, a promo for "American Horror Story" season 6 titled "The Mist" was released early last month.
As FX CEO John Landgraf revealed last month to IndieWire, only one of the teasers they released actually the real one, and the rest are only released to throw fans off.
"We decided, [series creator Ryan Murphy] and I and [marketing president] Stephanie Gibbons, that it would be really fun this year to keep it a mystery," he said.
"There is a theme and a setting and a place and time, but we're not going to reveal it," he further teased. If the leaks are to be believed, "American Horror Story" season 6 could be about "The Mist."
There's no other source material that is believed to have inspired the new season than the horror novella of the same name by prolific horror writer Stephen King.
It is a story about a thick unnatural mist that engulfs the town of Bridgton in Maine. The mist basically provided no visibility of everything, allowing creatures to lurk and attack anyone there.
It remains a mystery if "The Mist" really did inspire "American Horror Story" season 6. The good thing is that fans won't have to wait that long to find out.
The new season will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX. The cast includes Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Dennis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, Leslie Jordan, Finn Wittrock, and Matt Bomer.
