'American Horror Story' season 6 news: Huge twist, connection to 'Freak Show' to be revealed
Two episodes into "American Horror Story" season 6, it may seem like the series has no surprises left. After all, the new season's much-hyped plot has already been revealed.
But according to co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, season 6 is steadily moving towards another huge reveal.
"American Horror Story: Roanoke," which follows main characters Shelby Miller (Sarah Paulson) and Matt Miller (Cuba Gooding, Jr.), is presented as a paranormal documentary titled "My Roanoke Nightmare." It tells the story of the Millers, who have moved into a haunted house in Roanoke Island, North Carolina.
"You'll see starting in episode 6, the show has a huge turn and the thing that you think you're watching is not what you're watching," Murphy recently told Entertainment Weekly.
"No matter what you think it is, it's not that," Falchuk added. "Then, episode 6 comes and you're like, 'Wait! What happened?'," he continued.
"It's a hat on a hat on a hat on a hat that we've had to protect," Murphy said.
On top of the upcoming twist that Murphy and Falchuk are hinting at, "American Horror Story" season 6 is also set to feature a direct connection to "American Horror Story" season 4, which was subtitled "Freak Show." In particular, the new season will have some sort of tie-in to that season's psychopath, Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock).
"We explain how the Motts began, which is funny," Murphy said in another EW interview.
In addition, "American Horror Story: Roanoke" will feature various other throwbacks to earlier seasons of the anthology horror series. According to Murphy, in "Roanoke," viewers will get to see many "AHS" alums that they have been missing.
"Many, many, many that you have not seen in years that you have wanted to see," he revealed.
"American Horror Story: Roanoke" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
