'American Horror Story' news, updates: 'Murder House' and 'Coven' to have a crossover season
It seems like "American Horror Story" has more surprises up its sleeves. Though they have unveiled the well-kept secret theme for season 6, the surprises won't end when the season closes. Showrunner Ryan Murphy recently announced that the popular anthology horror TV series will be bringing back "Murder House" and "Coven" for a brand new season.
The production team continues to surprise its faithful viewers with more intense themes and engrossing plotlines. At Entertainment Weekly's PopFest held last Sunday, Murphy told the audience that a future season will be a crossover dedicated to "Murder House" and "Coven." Though the showrunner confirmed the plans for a crossover season, he also revealed that it won't be the case for season 7.
"We do know what we're going to do," Murphy revealed. "It's not going to be next season, but we are going to do a season that's a crossover between Murder House and Coven together, which is very bizarre."
Though the season isn't happening anytime soon, Murphy said that he has been talking to actors from the aforementioned seasons. Emma Roberts, who also attended the panel, previously expressed her desire to return to "American Horror Story." To note, Roberts portrayed Madison Montgomery on "Coven."
Other exciting news that fans should look forward to is the return of "American Horror Story" alumni. Aside from Roberts, "Murder House" alumni such as Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott will most likely be making a comeback for this epic crossover season. Both of the actors were last seen in season 2 of the show, "Asylum."
For the uninitiated, "Murder House" was the first season of "American Horror Story." Meanwhile, "Coven" was the third.
"American Horror Story" season 6 "Roanoke" is about to finish its 10-episode run. Viewers can catch the sixth season of the show on FX every Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT.
