'Agents of SHIELD' season 4 release date, spoilers: Ghost Rider's Hell Charger fires up in new promo
ABC is trying to do something different with the upcoming season of "Agents of SHIELD." This is why management decided to cast Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider. So far, no images of Luna as the actual Ghost Rider have surfaced but a new promo shows Ghost Rider's Hell Charger in action — flaming wheels and all.
Though the clip is brief, audiences get a glimpse of the legend of the Ghost Rider. The voiceover in the trailer said, "They say when the Rider burns you, he burns your soul," and it looks like SHIELD will be running into Robbie Reyes already with his powers in the first episode. There's also a look at returning characters in the show like Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), Mack (Henry Simmons) and Daisy (Chloe Bennet).
Speaking of Daisy, the second episode in the season is titled "Meet the New Boss." The synopsis said that she will be going to battle it out with the Ghost Rider. Bennet had previously hinted that Quake and Ghost Rider might team up at some point but it looks like the two will start out as enemies before they decide to be allies.
As for Robbie Reyes' origins, it could very well be explored in the first episode of the series titled "The Ghost," or they could revealed his story later on in the show.
In the comics, Robbie Reyes joined an illegal street race in order to win some money to help out his disabled brother. Things go horribly wrong as Robbie finds himself dead but he is sooner resurrected as the new Spirit of Vengeance.
Reyes is the more modern incarnation of the Ghost Rider, the original being Johnny Blaze, who was played by Nicholas Cage in the poorly received "Ghost Rider" movie.
Vengeance comes to "Agents of SHIELD" season 4, airing on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 p.m. on ABC.
