'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 4 episode 12 spoilers: Sam and Billy Koenig set to appear in 'Hot Potato Soup'
Writer and stand-up comedian Patton Oswalt returns to reprise his double roles as Agents Sam and Billy in the next episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Titled "Hot Potato Soup," the episode will feature the remaining Koenig brothers, Sam and Billy, caught in the crosshairs of Sen. Nadeer (Parminder Nagra), who is out to retrieve the Darkhold book at all cost. Apparently, Coulson has entrusted the book to one of them because of his ability to make things disappear. However, the senator's men have caught on and have taken the brothers hostage in their vile quest to find the book.
Will Coulson and his team make it on time to save the brothers before the senator's men torture them enough that they are left with no choice but to reveal where the book is? Do the Koenigs even still have the book?
The trailer for the next episode reveals that Coulson will indeed save at least one of the brothers, but he will profess to not knowing where the book is. When the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents ask him if he has forgotten where he hid the book, he says that he has not hidden it and that he does not have it.
"This is bad," Coulson remarks in his desperation.
Aside from the Darkhold's whereabouts, the episode also promises to reveal the much talked about Koenig family secret. There have been speculations that the Koenigs may not actually have been triplets but are Life Model Decoys (LMD) instead. Will these speculations be proven true, or is there something more shocking that is in store for fans of the curiously identical Koenig brothers?
The previous episode has also left one other important question hanging in the air: who is the Superior? In an interview with E! News, actress Ming-Na Wen, who plays Agent May, teases that the Superior could either be one of two persons: a double agent who is already working from within the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters or an entirely new character that is yet to be introduced.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 episode 12 airs on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
