Mercedes-Benz has announced that the 2018 E-Class Coupe will make its first appearance on Wednesday, Dec. 14, before making its world premiere at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January 2017.

The teaser video previews some of the design elements featured in the all-new E-Class Coupe. The rear taillight is long and thin with a similar design to the S-Class and C-Class coupes. It might be equipped with OLED technology. Meanwhile, the front fascia features Mercedes' diamond grille and LED headlights that maintain the E-Class' signature four-eyed appearance.

A sneak peek at the coupe's cabin previews the two-screen design of the cockpit as well as a three-spoke steering wheel and a silver analog clock. The coupe's interiors have also been given a modern look featuring redesigned air vents and a carbon fiber trim on the dashboard.

While Mercedes has not released the technical specifications of the 2018 E-Class coupe, it is expected to feature the Drive Pilot semi-autonomous technology as well as a comprehensive suite of safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control with Start/Stop function and Automatic Emergency Braking.

According to reports, a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine that delivers 241 horsepower may be found under the hood. It will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. AutoEvolution also revealed that a high-powered variant, possibly badged as the E50, will have a 4.0-liter engine capable of up to 450 horsepower.

A leaked brochure (via Left Lane) also suggests that the 2018 E-Class Coupe will have the newest COMAND infotainment system with a 12.3-inch high-resolution display with an optional secondary screen to replace the instrument cluster.
