2017 Honda CR-V release date, specs, price news: Best-selling compact crossover gets new design
The Honda CR-V, the best-selling compact crossover last year, has been redesigned for the new model year. For 2017, the fifth-generation sports utility vehicle comes with bold new styling, premium interiors, advanced technologies, and more powertrain options.
The 2017 Honda CR-V features a more muscular and aggressive design as evidenced by the front fascia. The SUV's front-end appearance is highlighted by wing-shaped daytime running lights, signature LED headlights and wide fenders. In terms of dimensions, it is longer and taller. The long hood and short rear overhang also contribute to its athletic aesthetics. The new dimensions are courtesy of an all-new platform architecture that ensures a comfortable driving experience.
There are four available trims — LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. The base trim, LX, is powered by a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that delivers 184 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the three other trims are powered by the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet. of torque.
New components include a front MacPherson strut, a rear multi-link suspension, stabilizer bars, and Electric Power Steering.
Inside, the compact crossover comes with refined and premium interiors. The spacious cabin features luxurious materials including the soft-touch instrument panel and sophisticated stitching on the seats. In terms of connectivity, the 2017 CR-V is available with a 7-inch Display Audio system with Apple CarPlay Android Auto compatibility and the new Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System. As one's smartphone is seamlessly connected, drivers can access Global Positioning Service (GPS) navigation and conduct voice-controlled searches.
The Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies comes standard on the EX, EX-L and Touring trims. It includes Road Departure Mitigation and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. Other available features are Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, Blind Spot Information System, Auto High-Beam, and the Driver Attention Monitor.
The 2017 Honda CR-V has a starting price of $24,045 with an additional $900 for destination charge. It is expected to arrive in U.S. dealers on Dec. 21.
