Xbox Project Scorpio release date: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer is 'really happy' with Project Scorpio's progress

Microsoft' struggle to keep up with Sony when it comes to console sales is no big secret. Although the 26 million Xbox One units sold by the company is a sizable number, it is nothing compared to PlayStation 4's sales, which, according to a report from GameRant, will reach 60 million by April.

This 2017, however, Microsoft is bent on bridging that large gap with the upcoming Project Scorpio, which Xbox brags as "the most powerful console ever made." With the fans' anticipation of the new Xbox console's release, Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently gave an update about the console's development.

In response to a fan who asked on Twitter if Microsoft could show a sneak peek at the console's system, Spencer said, "Really wish I could, design team is doing their 'thing' again, really happy with what they've been able to do."

Although Spencer did not mention anything specific about the console's progress, it is a new additional piece of information that corroborates his previous stream of teaser updates about Project Scorpio. In fact, earlier this month, Spencer commented on Twitter that Xbox's "1st party teams are getting engines up and tuned, great progress across studios, platform and hw."

Spencer's statements also coincide with what other experts have said about Project Scorpio. For example, it was previously reported that Halo's director Frank O'Connor complimented the specs of the gaming console on being "beefier" than he had previously expected.

As for the possible price of the gadget, premium pricing is expected, considering Xbox's promise about the console's power. Although Spencer once revealed that the company aims to make Project Scorpio available at "console pricing," no official announcement about the upcoming device's price has been made yet.

The highly-awaited Xbox Project Scorpio is scheduled to be released sometime this holiday 2017. Like its price, no specific release date has been announced as well.
