After taking iOS devices by storm, "Super Mario Run" has been confirmed to have its Android release in March.

Nintendo's much-hyped mobile game, "Super Mario Run" originally debuted in December for Apple's iOS, breaking records by landing in the 50 top earning iOS games upon its release. More smartphone users will be able to get their hands on the game as "Super Mario" officially makes its way onto Android devices in March. The game is now live on the Google Play Store, and interested parties can pre-register using their e-mail address to get a notification once it arrives.

Roughly 5 million people downloaded the game at the time of its release, eclipsing the number of downloads for 2016's breakout AR game "Pokémon Go." While the game gave many smartphone users a nice dose of nostalgia, others were disappointed in the game's high-price. "Super Mario Run's" popularity has been plummeting, and part of the reason for its downfall can be attributed to its price.

Users can download the mobile game for free, but to access all of its 24 levels, they must pay $10. The app has been heavily criticized for being much more pricier than the usual pay-to-play mobile game which sells around $2 to $7 only. Most users also complain that even though they already purchased the full game, they still have to compete in certain difficult levels to unlock prizes.

Reports say that Nintendo has no plans of releasing major updates for "Super Mario Run" in the near future. Considering its decreasing popularity, fans and experts wonder if the game's success will last a long time. "It doesn't seem like  Super Mario Run has a long-term [plan] where they're going to add a new world or a new set of levels every week," Joost van Dreunen, CEO of SuperData Research told iDigitalTimes. "[But It is likely] they will have ready some additional levels and additional content to drive monetization," van Dreunen added.

Nintendo has yet to announce a definitive Android release date for "Super Mario Run."
