Samsung has just announced that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be released on March 29. However, the company has yet to reveal the specifications of the unit. Will it be able to live up to the reputation that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and its Edge version has made since they were launched?

Much like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is set to be marketed as Samsung's flagship phone for 2017, so it is almost guaranteed that top technology will be used for this handset. One speculation is that the phone will be bearing a Snapdragon 835 processor. Rumor has it that Samsung cornered the market for this, so it is highly likely that this new gadget will have the said component. Another option for its processor is the Exynos 8895, a chip custom-built by Samsung itself.

The phone seems to have been given a sleeker look based on leaked images. A major change that can be noticed in the said images is that it bears a high screen-to-body ratio, owing to the removal of the Home button in favor of its digital version, allowing the handset to have almost an edge-to-edge display. It is also said to come with a 3,500 mAh battery, which means users can enjoy using their devices for longer periods of time without needing to charge. It is also rumored to have a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, with users being given the option to expand it further using a microSD card.

The phone is also said to carry over some features of its predecessor, such as the Iris Scanner and USB-C charging, although face recognition seems to be a new addition to this handset. It is also highly likely that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is designed to be waterproof. Like the Samsung Galaxy S7, it also comes with a fingerprint scanner, although photos indicate that it may have been moved to the back.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be launched together with the Samsung S8 Plus.
