Samsung Galaxy S8 news, specs rumors: New image of upcoming smartphone leaked; device anticipated to arrive on March 29

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the most awaited devices to arrive this year, and recent reports claim that it may finally have a launch date: March 29.

Over the past several years, Samsung usually launches its latest Galaxy S models just before the Mobile World Congress in Spain, which is usually held at the end of February. However, VentureBeat reports that this year's first Unpacked event is set almost a month later on March 29. After last year's Note 7 recall and cancellation, Samsung is reportedly taking extra time to test flagship models, hence the later S8 reveal.

Aside from the release date, it is believed that the smartphone's price will also change. Once it comes out in Europe, the two Galaxy S8 models will each be priced at €100 more than its predecessors. Both S8 models will go on sale on April 21, with the 5.8-inch model priced at €799 and the 6.2-inch model retailing for €899.

Samsung has yet to unveil an official press render of the S8, but reliable tech source, Evan Blass, recently posted a photo of the upcoming smartphone. Blass posted the image on Twitter last Friday, showing the front and back side of the device.

Multiple sources claim that the new S8 will sport AMOLED screens with a narrower aspect ratio. The device will run with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor in the U.S., while the Samsung Exynos 8895 will be used everywhere else. Both S8 models will be powered by 3000mAh and 3500mAh non-removable batteries, along with 64GB of storage and MicroSD support.

It will also have an 8-megapixel front snapper and a 12-megapixel rear camera. For extra security, a fingerprint and iris scanner will be added. Although there might be no Home button, a headphone jack and USB-C port will still be present.
