Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti news: Upcoming video card to enable 4K gaming at highest settings

While the launch of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti did not come entirely as a surprise to users, some did not expect that its release date would be so soon, since its "Founders Edition" will come out only a few days after it was announced on Feb. 28. Nonetheless, customers have already expressed their interest in the video card, given its specifications.

While it looks similar to the earlier models of the GTX line, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is a lot more powerful compared to the previous GTX variants. It comes with 11 GB GDDR5X memory and 3,584 Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) cores, which allows it to have a boosted speed of 1.6GHz boost that can go as high as 2GHz. Altogether, these specifications can mean a 35 percent increase in performance, as compared to cards from the same line, the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti, according to TechRadar. TrustedReviews, meanwhile, said that this upcoming Nvidia video card is set to be "the first graphics card to truly master 4K gaming at maximum settings."

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti also comes with 250W Thermal Design Power (TDP), which is higher than the two earlier models, and which is the same as the Titan X Pascal video card, also released by Nvidia.

Its high-end specs, coupled with its relatively low price tag, has led PC Games N to dub the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti as the "Titan X killer". That model was released earlier, and it comes with nearly the same specs as the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, although the latter is expected to run faster. The Titan X Pascal video card is priced at $1,200, much higher compared to the $699 of the latter.

One thing that gamers have to note is that the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti no longer has a DVI connector, so this video card may not be compatible with low-end monitors.
