'Mass Effect: Andromeda' gameplay, news: New character teased; game will not have cross-platform multiplayer feature
A new character in "Andromeda" appears to have a suspicious background that connects to the big bad from the "Mass Effect" trilogy. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the new "Mass Effect" installment will not have a cross-platform multiplayer function.
BioWare and Electronic Arts will be releasing a new "Mass Effect" game, titled "Andromeda," where players can choose from twins Sara or Scott Ryder to play in a third-person perspective.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" kicks off 600 years from the events of the original trilogy, where their mission is to find new planets where humans can continue life, while aboard the starship named Tempest.
A new character will be introduced in "Mass Effect: Andromeda," and her name is Cora Harper.
PC Gamer reports that Cora is one of Sara or Scott's operative squad mates who shares a surname with the Illusive Man, otherwise known as Jack Harper. Jack was the big bad from the "Mass Effect" original trilogy, and it is suspected that Cora is a spy working on the Andromeda mission.
However, it is also possible that Sara had a change of heart and wants to be far away as possible to her family's legacy.
Meanwhile, "Andromeda" will be in the market this March, and it has been confirmed that the game will not have a cross-platform multiplayer setting.
Game producer Fernando Melo confirmed on Twitter, "Crossplay not in the current plans, sorry. and mp is peer to peer (same as me3)." However, "Andromeda" will still have a player-versus-environment mode wherein gamers can team up through peer-to-peer connections.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is also moving on from Milky Way enemy species to Andromedan hostiles. One of the new aliens is called Jaal, which belongs to the Angaran species.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is expected to roll out on March 21.
