'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date, news: more worlds still not built; Situation Command to be added in game
The way the development for "Kingdom Hearts 3" is going, the highly anticipated action, role-playing game will not arrive during the first quarter of the year, as suggested before by reports.
In an interview with Famitsu (translated by KH Insider), game director Hajime Tabata revealed that "there's still a lot of development work to do," but assured that there is nothing to fear.
"On one hand, there are worlds that are pretty much finished, on the other hand there are worlds we still haven't even touched. Worlds we haven't announced yet tend to be further along in development, so we're at a stage where what we could show is what we can't show," he explained.
This suggests that it might be a while before fans learn more information about "Kingdom Hearts 3," let alone be treated to a new trailer for the game.
Tabata noted that they are not working on all the worlds all at once. They work on one first, prepare every element going in there and finish it up.
He said that there are some worlds "still being audited" and that there is still work that needs to be done on remodeling characters for new consoles, which is why "Kingdom Hearts 3" is unlikely to arrive in the coming months.
"But, you don't have to worry about the quality, so please wait until the next opportunity I have to show you something. Preparations are underway," he said.
With regard to the gameplay, Tabata revealed that there will be situation commands in "Kingdom Hearts 3." The game will offer "huge amount of options" for players during battles.
He said that the situation commands in "Kingdom Hearts 0.2" just represent the larger system at play in "Kingdom Hearts 3." Comparing the two, he said that there will be variations.
"Locking onto a huge amount of enemies will send Sora flying between them, landing blows as he moves from target to target. Expect to see these sorts exhilarating and fun to execute Shotlocks," he explained.
