Apple is rumored to be cooking big things to celebrate iPhone's 10th anniversary this year. Will a revolutionary iPhone 8 be one of them?

It's only been less than a year since the iPhone 7 went on sale, and yet, fans are already looking forward to the release of iPhone 8. If the leaks and rumors are to be believed, the upcoming smartphone could be one that fans would want to upgrade to right away on its official launch day.

But just what makes the iPhone 8 special? Rumors are rife that the California-based tech company is aiming to release three new iPhone models in 2017, with an anniversary edition codenamed "Ferrari." This particular smartphone is also believed to come with better thermal control and an advanced wireless charging technology that, according to early leaks, will allow long-range charging from a distance of about 15 feet. This version of wireless charging will not require the iPhone to be placed on a cradle, which is something that's unprecedented on commercial smartphones.

However, this advanced charging technology does come with a catch as it could cause the phone to heat up a little more than usual. In line with this, Apple has also reportedly come up with a solution to prevent the device from malfunctioning due to overheating by adding a new 3D Touch module that will provide an extra layer of protective graphite sheet lamination to the phone.

Other rumored features of the upcoming iPhone 8 include a glass back to better facilitate wireless charging, a new speaker design that may make the phone thinner than its predecessors, a borderless OLED screen, and gesture recognition via laser sensor. The main logic board may also be built into the phone in two pieces instead of one, the SIM tray may be moved to the bottom edge of the phone to allow more room for other internal components like a Smart Connector, and the home button may be built right into the screen.

It is still unclear whether the rumored "Ferrari" phone is eventually going to be unveiled as the iPhone 8 or if anything will be called iPhone 8, to begin with. Apple has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
