When Apple launched its latest flagship devices, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, last September, a lot of consumers were more drawn toward the larger smartphone due to its dual-camera setup. However, it seems that a lot people are regretting purchasing the iPhone 7 Plus as they have been experiencing a lot of hardware problems which significantly affect the device's camera.

It seems that since the iPhone 7 Plus' release, a lot of users have been seeing a black screen instead of the image preview and they have also been getting an error message. In a recent thread titled "iPhone 7 Plus Cameras are dying" posted on social media website Reddit, user teryakiwok detailed the camera problems of the device.

"I opened up the camera app only to be met with a black image preview, sometimes I can get an image however it's either tinted green or purple and was once accompanied by a screen stating 'Emergency iPhone needs to cool down' when the handset wasn't even slightly warm," the Redditor explained.

Based on the responses on the thread, it is evident the camera problem is not unique to the handset owned by teryakiwok. A lot of other users have encountered this issue as well. It was mentioned that there is no fix for this as it is caused by a "hardware fault" and the only solution is to have one's iPhone 7 Plus replaced.

According to Tech Times, it seems that only a small batch of units have been affected by this issue so Apple isn't expected to release a software update. For those who find their devices experiencing camera problems, it seems that there will be no be no other fix aside from bringing the iPhone 7 Plus to Apple's Genius Bars.

With the next-generation iPhone rumored to also feature a dual-camera setup, Apple should quickly find out the cause of the iPhone 7 Plus' camera issue in order to avoid experiencing the same problems when the iPhone 8 is released next year.
