Tim Tebow news 2016: internet abuzz as Tim Tebow stands next to Johnny Manziel at the Heisman Trophy ceremony
Seeing former Heisman Trophy winners Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel standing right next to each other on stage during the Heisman Trophy ceremony this week was just too much for football fans to handle. And as expected, the internet had a field day making jokes about the two.
The only thing they have in common is that they failed to make it in the National Football League (NFL). Other than that, the two could not be more different. Personality-wise, they could be polar opposites. While Tebow tried his best to make it in the pros, Manziel simply squandered away his chances with his out-of-control lifestyle. Just take a look at the collection of memes people came up with on the SEC Country website.
Meanwhile, supporters have been wondering if Tebow can really make the jump from NFL to Major League Baseball (MLB). He may have a lot of detractors who say he can't make it, but that has never stopped him from trying. And according to Mets hitting coach Kevin Long, Tebow may have what it takes to make it into the major leagues.
"I don't count out the fact that maybe, at some point, (Tebow) can break through into the major leagues. He's put together like no other athlete I've ever seen," Long told 1070 The Fan's Dan Dakich (via NY Daily News).
"He's got a lot of work to do, he understands that. He knows it's not gonna be easy, but having seen his swing now and worked with him a little bit, I'm not so sure that he can't break through maybe give himself a chance to get (to the majors)," he added.
Tebow has always been resilient, and as long as he puts his mind into doing his best and work on his skills, he will always have a chance to make it to the pros.
