A player New York Knicks president Phil Jackson was interested in acquiring before might be back on his radar. Reports say the team may take a long look at New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday if they felt that can't bring back Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings in the offseason.

An article on the International Business Times notes that the Knicks may look to acquire Holiday and make him their point guard of the future. Rose is practically injure-free this season, but the team is wary of his injury history. On the other hand, Jennings is too inconsistent. He can have a huge game one night and disappear the next. Holiday is playing fairly well this season, and he may be the type of guard that the Knicks need.

The question is: will the Knicks talk with the Pelicans before the trade deadline? Or will they look to acquire Holiday in the offseason?

In a recent piece about the Knicks, ESPN's Ian Begley said the Knicks might be interested in getting the point guard when he hits the free agency market in the summer.

"The take here is that it's way too early to make any hard conclusions on a long-term commitment to Rose. But it's worth noting that Jrue Holiday, who played well in a win over the Knicks and has had a strong season thus far, will be on the market as well. And if recent history is any indication, the Knicks may have interest in Holiday. Phil Jackson expressed interest in trading for Holiday earlier in his tenure as Knicks president, according to sources," he stated.

Daily Knicks' Maxwell Ogden believes that a trade is unlikely at this point, but he said the Knicks may try to sign him when he becomes a free agent.

Of course, these are just speculations at the moment, so readers should take these with a pinch of salt.
