Houston Rockets trade rumors 2016: Dwight Howard may be on his way out of the Rockets

Another year, another time for disappointment for Dwight Howard as he failed to lead the Houston Rockets to another successful run in the NBA playoffs.

The team managed to get into the first round to face the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, and the Rockets failed to make it even a little challenging.

It has not been a smooth season at all for Houston, and this has raised many speculations about where Howard's future is heading.

For Houston, it remains clear that James Harden is the main guy, leaving Howard in a tough spot as he is an All-Star calibre player but is unable to find a solid spot in the team.

This has naturally led to some talks over him finding some other place to play especially as he enters his 13th season in the league.

At 30 years old, Howard may not be one of the young guys, but he is still surely one of the elite big men in the league.

And with him entering the final year of his contract with a player option, Howard may be likely to test the waters to see who can offer him the best for what he wants and is capable of.

Looking at his contract, Howard is set to make around $23 million if he opts to stay with the Rockets.

However, looking at the situation he faced, where he was clearly frustrated by the lack of touches he had on the court, he may opt for somewhere that can help him contend that he could sacrifice some of the money he is set to earn in the coming season.

In fact, Howard is coming off his second worst year in scoring, with the first being his rookie season, as he only averaged 13.7 points per game. Despite shooting at an impressive 62 percent, he failed to get the touches he needed to make a big impact and it has reached a toll on the big man.

There will be a lot of interest in Howard this summer and all signs point to him moving away from "Clutch City." The question is where and for how much.
