New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony might have repeatedly been saying he wants to stay in New York until he retires, but lately he has been opening up to the possibility of moving to another team. Especially if he feels that his team no longer needs him.

In an interview with Newsday, Anthony said he would definitely consider waiving his no-trade clause if the Knicks decides to rebuild.

"I think it will be more on the front office. I have the power, but still I would talk to them. We would be in communication if they feel like they want to go in a different direction, they want to start rebuilding for the future. If they tell me they want to scrap this whole thing, yeah, I have to consider it," he stated.

He may have opened the doors to possible trade talks, but Anthony also reiterated that he's going to continue to do everything he can to help the team win. "When you're in the middle of battling, whether we're winning or losing, me personally, it's hard to even sit down and say, '[Expletive], I want to get out of here," he said.

Anthony admitted that there were times when he felt the need to escape from all the losing. However, he said he would feel guilty if he left his teammates in a bad situation.

The Knicks may not have publicly said that Anthony is up for grabs, but they haven't backed their franchise player either while the rumors have been spreading like wildfire. ESPN has reported that several members of the Knicks think Anthony should leave, so it seems that he's no longer welcome there. When Newsday asked Anthony if the Knicks were trying to convince him to leave, he refused to comment.

Right now, Anthony's future in New York is highly questionable. But as long as he continues to wear the Knicks uniform, expect him to remain the focal point of the team as they look to steady the ship and win more games.
