NBA trade rumors 2017: Carmelo Anthony may waive no-trade clause if he is moved to the Cavaliers or the Clippers

By now, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony must be getting tired of hearing his name get mentioned in trade rumors. Teams would love to acquire a proven player like him, however, they would have to get him to waive his no-trade clause first.

Last week, sources say Anthony has refused to do this. But FanRag Sports' Charley Rose has reported that the All-Star forward would give the Knicks his blessing if he was shipped to the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Los Angeles Clippers. "The only sure thing is that Carmelo Anthony has outlived his usefulness in New York," he stated.

It appears that Rose may have some inside scoop on the team's decision-making process. After all, he's a good friend of Knicks' president of Basketball Operations, Phil Jackson.

Since then, Anthony has also addressed the rumors. "If they feel like my time in New York is over I guess that's a conversation we should have," the All-Star forward told the New York Daily News' Frank Isola.

"Listen. If that's what they feel ... if that's what's coming from that side that's what's coming from that side. I haven't thought once about that to be honest with you. I hear it. I hear all the rhetoric that's going on out there and I still come to work every day and play and bust my ass and try not to worry about it," he added.

He went on to reiterate that he's not planning to waive his no-trade clause at the moment. So far, Jackson has yet to address the rumors.

Anthony may be softening his stance on his no-trade clause, but a close friend of his — Chicago Bulls guard Dwayne Wade â€” thinks a trade is still unlikely. Wade told the New York Daily News that Anthony loves it there in New York and that he was going to stay there no matter how the team struggled.
