NBA trade rumors update 2016: another team going after DeMarcus Cousins besides Boston Celtics?

DeMarcus Cousins is one of the most sought-after National Basketball Association (NBA) stars, but it looks like he is staying right where he is at the moment — with the Sacramento Kings, as per the latest NBA trade rumors.

Whether the Kings will keep Cousins around will depend on the team's performance. As per the trade rumors, if the Kings make it to the playoffs, then he is not going anywhere.

"The last time I talked to people about (DeMarcus Cousins), which was last week, what I was being told is that the Kings want to keep him into the trade deadline or close to the trade deadline and see where they are as a team," Chris Broussard of Fox Sports said on the Basketball Insiders Podcast.

"If they are competing and in the playoff hunt, what I'm told is they would like to keep him," he went on to say.

The Sacramento Kings are currently at the 11th spot with eight wins and 15 losses. If the NBA trade rumors are to be believed, Cousins' fate will lie on how all this ends up.

Interestingly, Adam Kaufman of WBZ News Radio has revealed details regarding the plans of the Kings for their highly coveted power forward.

"Not reporting trade between Celtics and Kings imminent or will even happen ... but heard something regarding Cousins, C's that caught my attention," he wrote on Twitter.

"Basically, there are some other teams around NBA that believe there's traction on Boogie deal ... but not a Celtics or Kings source," he went on to say.

This suggests that there could be another team vying for Cousins although Kaufman did not elaborate on that. Either way, it will not be a shock that another team is looking to nab the franchise star.

There is no way of knowing at the moment what lies ahead for Cousins, but as the mystery goes on, more NBA trade rumors will emerge.
