Jeremy Lin remains on the sidelines for Monday's game; Linsanity star expresses support for Natalie Chou
Jeremy Lin, along with his teammate Chris LeVert, has been out of the Brooklyn Nets lineup due to recent injuries. Although the representatives of the two players have yet to announce their return, Lin will surely remain out of tonight's game.
After sustaining a hamstring injury, Lin will remain on the sidelines for his team's game against the Wizards tonight. According to CBS Sports, the Nets have yet to update the star player's return timetable, so it remains unclear how long he will be out of the court. Isaiah Whitehead is set to continue being the team's starting point guard, along with Randy Foye who will have more time as one of the Nets' main ball-handlers. Lin's next chance to return in the game will be on Wednesday, when the team plays against the Nuggets.
Despite taking a short break, Lin still showed support for Natalie Chou, a Chinese-American female basketball player who is the no. 8 recruit in the country. Dubbed by the Chinese media as the female Jeremy Lin, Chou is one of the few female Asian American players playing at an elite level.
Lin recently caught up with ESPN and he admitted that he is a little concerned about how people tag Chou as a female version of him. The NBA star explained that he wants Chou to build her own identity in the basketball scene in order to inspire more aspiring female athletes.
"It is harder for Asians to break in [in basketball] and they have to prove themselves more times than not and they have to stand out even more than the average person in order to be found, respected and given the same opportunity," Lin said. "But also in general, in years past, Asian American families didn't put as much an emphasis on sports and basketball. So ... I feel like this [Chou's success moving forward] is a great example of challenging that," the basketball star added.
The Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets will have a 7:30 p.m. match tonight at Barclays Center in New York City.
