Jeremy Lin news: Lin leaves game with strained hamstring
The Brooklyn Nets may have won the game against the Charlotte Hornets thanks to Randy Foye's three-pointer at the buzzer, but their floor general, Jeremy Lin, had to leave the game after he suffered yet another hamstring injury in the third quarter of their 120–118 victory. It's a bittersweet victory indeed. Now, the Nets may have to struggle once again without their starting point guard.
Right now, there's no timetable for his return, and Nets coach Kenny Atkinson told Newsday's Owen O'Brien that he felt bad for Lin because of all the work the guard did to get back to the court after the first hamstring strain he suffered early in the season.
Isaiah Whitehead also said it was hard to see Lin suffer another hamstring injury. "He was out a number of games and he wanted to be on the floor as much as possible but I mean sometimes it just happens. There's nothing you can really do to prevent it. Sometimes that's just the way it goes," he stated.
"He went through this before so I'm pretty sure he knows his body. And if he feels like he can play, he'll play," he added.
Foye also talked about how frustrating it was to lose a player like Lin to another injury, but he believes that Lin would be back on the court in no time. "But at the end of the day, Jeremy is resilient. He's a strong person, and he's going to get through this," he told The New York Post.
With Lin expected to miss some games, Atkinson will have to rely on a group of unheralded players to log heavy minutes. Sean Kilpatrick has been playing well all season long, and Whitehead has also been a solid backup for Lin. Spencer Dinwiddie will have to step up and play more consistently if they want to hold the fort while Lin is recuperating. Foye made the game-winning three in their last game, but he is in a shooting slump this season.
