Jeremy Lin injury report: Lin talks about injury for the first time after he went down
This year's Brooklyn Nets isn't exactly a deep team. So, when starting point guard Jeremy Lin went down with another left hamstring injury, they knew they were in even bigger trouble. The Nets will try to hold the fort while he's recuperating, but they are going to need him back sooner than later.
Before the Nets play the Utah Jazz on Monday, Lin spoke to the press for the first time since he got injured and he admitted that it kind of felt like "Groundhog Day" since he had to do the rehab process over and over again. He has only played 12 games this season due to the hamstring injuries, so he was clearly upset when he got hurt again.
"It's been difficult. The night I got hurt, I didn't feel like talking or was just not in a place where I had anything to say to anybody. That night, I was pretty upset. I think the whole process has been not what I anticipated in terms of you get this opportunity to be on this team," he said (via the New York Post).
But he said the injury is a little less severe this time "Everything's progressing better than the previous one, so I'm definitely very encouraged," he stated. He also admitted that it would have been bad if the injury happened on the same area as before. "Definitely, if it was the same exact spot, it'd be a different tune," he said.
Lin had to sit out some games again, but he's keeping his chin up. He said the setbacks were a learning experience, and that the injury was "progressing much faster" than the first one, so he should be back on the court sooner than expected. "It's been a week, and I've shot, so that's really encouraging," he stated (via Newsday).
While Lin is out, rookie Isaiah Whitehead has been starting in his place. But the Nets have lost three straight games and they can't wait to get their starting point guard back.
