Floyd Mayweather's Next Fight Manny Pacquiao? Arum Dedicated to Making Next Opponent Be Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather might face Manny Pacquiao next following remarks from boxing promoter Bob Arum that the fight will go ahead in spite of all the current problems surrounding it.

Examiner quoted Arum as telling Elie Seckback that there are a number of people on both sides trying very hard to make the fight happen. He said he remains optimistic about it despite what each side says from time to time. Arum also noted that a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is what everyone wants to see, and so he is not going to give up on it.

Moreover, Pacquiao has openly stated that he is just waiting for a call from the Mayweather camp, if and when they are ready to pick up his challenge.

With no news as to who Mayweather's next opponent will be, rumors have started to swirl that he may not accept the fight with Pacquiao because he is scared of losing. Pacquiao, meanwhile, is currently preoccupied with preparing for his fight against Chris Algieri, which will take place in Macau, China.

Mayweather remains undefeated following his victory over Marcos Maidana in September. With Mayweather apparently in no rush to line up his next fight, BoxingNew24.com states that the undefeated champion might just be waiting for the result of the Pacquiao-Algieri fight. If Pacquiao loses to Algieri it could permanently put an end to all plans for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

There have also been rumors that Mayweather might retire after his fights in 2015 are done. Mayweather has a contract for six fights which he signed with Showtime Sports. There are two fights left in that contract which he plans to pursue through next year. However, Mayweather told Ben Thompson, a FightHype.com reporter, that he might change his plans because "I sometimes think about signing a new contract and extending the number of fights. I'm not 100 percent sure if I will, but I'm thinking about it."
