Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao Fight News: Pac-Man or Amir Khan Among List of Potential Fighters
37-year old Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently gained another win against Marcos Maidana, improving his stats to 47-0. As expected, speculation as to who will be next in line are starting to form. Understandably, we have not heard any confirmation yet, but some people already have their suggestions, and of course Manny Pacquiao has been the subject of most speculation.
As everyone has expected, Manny Pacquiao is the first candidate. Talk about the two champions in the ring has been going on for years now. Mayweather against Pacquiao would absolutely be the biggest fight of the decade, but Mayweather's father and trainer revealed that the showdown between the two is unlikely to happen.
"I would say Amir Khan is number one on the list, but that's still not even permanent," said Mayweather Sr. when asked whom his son would fight next.
This takes us to the second candidate, British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan, who is the most likely one.
Oscar De la Hoya told USA Today Sports, "I believe it will happen. I've been talking to Amir. He wants the fight. He believes he has the style, the ability to surprise Mayweather... It's a matter of when and where."
Fans also don't want to discount the possibility of a rematch between Maidana and Mayweather. Some have even said that if Mayweather just wants an easy pay day and a simple victory, then he just may choose to fight Marcos Maidana again.
We have yet to find out who Mayweather will fight next. We can only wait and see.
