'Z Nation' season 3 spoilers, news: Fall premiere date confirmed, 10K's fate to be revealed after season 2 cliffhanger
Syfy's post-apocalyptic horror comedy "Z Nation" is all set to return this Fall, and the two-hour special premiere will see a new enemy capture Warren's group.
Speaking to TV Insider, series creator Karl Schaefer hinted that the big bad for this season is definitely out for blood. "Our Big Bad character for Season 3 is basically the bounty hunter of all bounty hunters," Schaefer said. "He is working for Zona and has come back for Murphy, but not finding Murphy, he decides to go after his baby, Lucy."
Season 2 left off with a major cliffhanger when 10K was shot and taken to a submarine out in the ocean. While still in the submarine, he appeared to be fine and recovering from the incident. Roberta and her allies later on saw the submarine burning and a huge explosion happened. 10K is nowhere to be found but Schaefer assured fans that he managed to escape the submarine just in time. "He's okay, but something totally unexpected has happened to him, and it will change his character a great deal next season," the creator explained.
Three years after a zombie virus wiped out almost all humanity, "Z Nation" follows a team of everyday heroes as they travel across the country and transport the sole survivor of the plague to last functioning lab in America—hoping to find a cure before it's too late.
The zombie series debuted in 2014 with 13 episodes which increased to 15 when season 2 aired. After maintaining an average of 1.5 million viewers per week, the show was renewed for a third season with 15 episodes as well. Cast members include Kellita Smith, DJ Qualls, Keith Allan, Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson, Nat Zang and Matt Cedeño.
"Z Nation" season 3 premieres on Friday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. EST on Syfy. The series returns to its Fridays-at-9 time slot the following week.
