'You're the Worst' season 3 spoilers news 2016: New trailer video revealed; Gretchen meets her new therapist
The first trailer for FXX's hit comedy "You're the Worst" season 3 has been released, teasing what lies ahead for Gretchen (Aya Cash) as she finally talks to a therapist.
In the short clip, Jimmy (Chris Geere) struggles with openly saying "I love you" back while Gretchen's (Aya Cash) first therapy session makes her feel uneasy. Edgar's (Desmin Borges) issues will return and he will realize that he needs some help. Lindsay (Kether Donahue), on the other hand, faces relationship problems of her own.
Season 2 drew mostly positive reviews from viewers after it showcased Gretchen's clinical depression in a more realistic way. After years of battling with her frightening and confusing mental illness, Gretchen will now seek help from a therapist and possibly get the proper medication she needs. It will definitely be a huge challenge but she is ready to take the next step in dealing with her illness.
The upcoming season picks up right after Jimmy and Gretchen confessed their love for each other. Gretchen will also meet her no-nonsense therapist Justina (Samira Wiley) once she decides to address her clinical depression. As Gretchen and Jimmy face complications in their adult lives, their friends Lindsay and Edgar will also have their own share of troubles. Lindsay must deal with the idea that her ex-husband unintentionally got her pregnant while Edgar's bout with PTSD will be highlighted in the story.
Speaking with Zap2it, Cash says season 3 will be a tough ride for Gretchen since she is still getting herself used to therapy. Gretchen has yet to understand the concept of how therapy works but as of now, she is looking at it as a way to "fix" herself. "She's kind of looking for a quick fix, like she's always tried to," the actress explained. "Most of her fixes are immediate and superficial — drugs, alcohol, whatever she can get her hands on to make herself feel better in the moment — but the long game of therapy is not what she's interested in. She's still trying to figure out what it is, why it is and how it can help her."
"You're the Worst" season 3 premieres Wednesday, Aug. 31 on FXX.
