A lot of fans were crushed when DC Animation's "Young Justice" got axed in 2013 after running a total of 47 episodes, but latest rumors claim that Netflix will be picking up the beloved series for a third season. Execs recently spoke about the speculations, and it might not be good news for fans.

Since the show wrapped up three years ago, various fan-favorite programs managed to find new life on other popular streaming platforms such as Hulu, Netflix and Amazon. Just a few days ago, one Reddit user posted a conversation with series writer Peter David at the TerrificCon Comic-Con event held in Connecticut. David allegedly told the fan that he met with Netflix concerning a possible renewal.

Through social media, a fan reached out to "Young Justice" producer Greg Weisman to verify if the rumors were true, to which he replied: "I'm guessing @PeterDavid_PAD was at least somewhat misquoted. I'm sure he's not a part of any negotiations. It's NOT happening YET." David eventually clarified the matter in a Twitter post by agreeing with Weisman. "Yeah, that's a total misquote. Meetings are just wishful thinking at this point," he wrote.

To further clear things up, David discussed the matter at length on his personal blog site. Aside from being upset about the wrong information given by the Reddit user, David also urged fans to continue supporting the series by watching the previous seasons.

"I'm now worried it could do damage to the cause, because people might think, 'We did it! There's gonna be a third season, done deal!' and then stop watching. Which would then cause Netflix to say, 'Hunh, people have stopped watching, guess it was just a passing fad,' and that's that. So I will say it once more: It is NOT a done deal. So continue watching 'Young Justice' if you want to have a hope of a third season," he said.

"Young Justice" follows lives of teenage heroes who are members of a covert operation team known as Young Justice. The characters include sidekicks Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Superboy, Artemis, Blue Beetle, Batgirl, Wonder Girl and Beast Boy.

"Young Justice" seasons 1 and 2 is currently available for streaming via Netflix.
