Though smartphones have become a current standard for everyday phone users, they have come to be a bit pricey, what with Apple's iPhones and Samsung Galaxy Notes. Xiaomi has been known to produce more affordable budget smartphones and their latest models are part of the Redmi 4 series.

According to reports, the Redmi 4 was just recently launched in Beijing this Nov. 4, and the company is also said to come up with a lower-end model of the phones called the 4A series.

As for the specs of the device, it's said that the Redmi 4 will have a 5-inch FHD display (4A will just be HD), Adreno 506 graphics and a Snapdragon 625 processor. The Redmi 4 will also come with 32 GB of storage that can be expanded up to 128 GB. It will also have 3 GB of RAM and a clock speed of 1.8 GHz.

The device is said to have a thickness of about 8.9 millimeters and a weight of 160 grams. The Redmi 4 will also be available in silver and gold.

The rear camera on the phone is said to have a 13-MP sensor while the front cam has 5 MP. Some have noted that it's not much of a change with the Redmi's predecessor, the Redmi 3. The Redmi 4A also has the same cam specs but the latter weighs lighter at 140 grams.

The main hook of the Redmi 4, however, is said to be the 4000 mAh battery which Xiaomi has said to be integrating in their more recent phones. Though more expensive phones have always boasted higher specs, battery life always seems to be a forgotten issue, something which Xiaomi phones are getting a lead in.

The device is also said to come with a fingerprint scanner below the camera, no doubt a way to make selfies easier to take.

The Redmi 4 is said to come with a price tag of $192.
