Xiaomi Mi Mix Nano release date, news and rumors: company exec debunks nano variant

The massive popularity of Xiaomi Inc.'s Xiaomi Mi Mix has not only generated considerable buzz and renewed trust in the Chinese manufacturer but has also subjected it to rather interesting speculations that may spell the device's quite-a-Herculean and variant-less offering — such that some people couldn't help but launch a legitimate clamor for it.

Two of its spawned versions based on the rumor mills lately are the Xiaomi Mi Mix white version and the nano variant, the latter being the most daydreamed between the two as some have found the iteration to be quite impressive in its display, even for a phablet. The emergence of the "nano" version has been doing the rounds lately, which created a rightful buzz for the community that seeks a smaller version of the bezel-less masterpiece.

But before the fire becomes uncontrollable, Xiaomi itself has put a stop to it. According to Xiaomi marketing director Zhang Zhiyuan, the rumored 5.5-inch variant of Xiaomi Mi Mix does not exist. Zhiyuan, via a Weibo account, has further clarified that the recent leaks have been generated from another brand using shady marketing ploys. As such, the "nano" leak must have been used to ride with the popularity Xiaomi Mi Mix is now garnering.

Apart from its 5.5-inch display, Xiaomi Mi Mix Nano was previously hinted to come with 90 percent screen-to-body ratio and would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. It was speculated that the smaller version would also be supported with 4GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 64GB of native storage. 

Meanwhile, the official Xiaomi Mi Mix sports a 6.4-inch with near bezel-less display. Boasting a 91.3 screen-to-body ratio, the device also comes with Snapdragon 821, 4GB RAM and 16-megapixel (MP) rear camera coupled with a 5MP front-facing snapper.

Unveiled alongside Xiaomi Mi Note 2, Xiaomi Mix was released officially in November in China.
