Xiaomi Mi 5 release date news: Phone will launch in India in April for Rs 27,000
Mi 5 was announced by the company's Vice President Hugo Barra during the launching of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 earlier this month. Barra also revealed that the new handset will make its way into India's tight smartphone market in April. There have been no further details provided when it comes to the specifics of the release but Bin Lin, Xiaomi's president, has teased fans of the smartphone's price range once it hits the shelves.

During Lin's interview with India's Economic Times, he said that Xiaomi Mi 5 price range will be between Rs 20,000 and Rs 27,000. The price will be almost the same as the Mi 5′s in China.
Although there is no confirmation if all models that will be sold in India will be the same as the ones in China, the possibility is high since Xiaomi would want to make sure they cover all aspects of the Indian smartphone market.
There are currently three models of Xiaomi Mi 5 being sold in China. The 32 GB and 64 GB, which both have 3D glass back. The higher end variant, which has the 128 GB storage capacity carry a different 3D ceramic body.
China's prices vary according to its model. The 32 GB is currently being sold at 1,999 Yuan, which is approximately 20,900 if converted to India's currency. The 64 GB model can be bought at 2,299 Yuan or Rs 24,100. On the other hand, the 128 GB variant is priced at 2,699 Yuan or approximately Rs 28,300.
Meanwhile, the company has revealed that most of Xiaomi's products are made by a manufacturer in India called Foxconn; however, the Xiaomi Mi 5 won't be made in India.
As for now, fans will have to wait until the people from Xiaomi will provide further details of the release. The initial figure provided by the company's president can be different from the actual price tag of the phone once it hits the market.
