Xbox One Slim release date, specs news 2016: Microsoft to announce new console at E3?

Reports have been circulating for quite some time now that Microsoft is developing a new video game console dubbed as Xbox One Slim. Despite contradicting reports, some game fans are positive that the company will announce the rumored device at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016.
According to a report by GameRant, following its announcement in June, the device will roll out late this year. The publication claimed that a source named Brad Sams has informed them that the new console will not have a physical disc drive. Apparently the new device from the American software giant will not have any other option but digital downloading.
"I have heard from internal sources that the company is considering plans for a lightweight Xbox One that may only be for Windows store games and would compete with the Apple TV," Sams revealed in a report by GameRant. "But it's not clear if these plans have been scrapped."
It will be interesting how fans will receive the new console if it does come out in the market without a physical disc drive. There are also speculations that the device will be priced lower than the current consoles in the shelves today. The report mentioned a $350 price tag; however, this has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft.
Meanwhile, The Verge reported that the device will be 40 percent smaller and lighter than the current Xbox One. There are also rumors suggesting that the console may come with 4K video support.
The company is also said to be preparing for a major update for their Xbox One next year. There are reports saying that the new Xbox will boast a more powerful graphic technology, which has the capability to support 4K videos. It is also said to be supporting the VR headset such as the Oculus Rift.
Microsoft is rumored to make a big announcement at E3. The event will happen on June 13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
