Xbox One Games With Gold List October 2014; Review of 3 Free Games Available to Subscribers
Three exciting new games available for free await Gold subscribers of Xbox Games this October 2014.
The first is the all-new Chariot, which Xbox One-owning Gold subscribers can obtain for free. The game is described as an "indie platformer with a colorful, spirited theme." Chariot ($14.99 ERP) is available from Oct. 1-31 on Xbox One.
Xbox 360 Gold subscribers can get the classic Battlefield: Bad Company 2, a first-person shooter with its own personality. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ($19.99 ERP) is available from Oct. 1-15 on Xbox 360.
The third Xbox offering is Darksiders II, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Darksiders action-RPG. Darksiders II ($39.99 ERP) is available from Oct. 16-31 on Xbox 360.
All games are available only for a limited time, as part of the ongoing Games with Gold promo.
CHARIOT – This latest ID@Xbox game from Canadian developers Frima, is a couch co-op platformer that can be played alone or with a friend. According to an Xbox press release, "players can take the role of the brave Princess or her faithful Fiancé as they move the departed king's coffin-on-wheels through 25 levels set in five vibrant underground environments, with his majesty's ghost giving them a piece of his mind every step of the way."
Loaded with physics-based gameplay," Chariot offers hours of exciting exploration, fast-paced ride sequences and mountains upon mountains of loot," according to the Xbox press release.
BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2 -- This award-winning Battlefield gameplay for Xbox 360 console offers best-in-class vehicular combat and unexpected "Battlefield moments." Vehicles such as the ATV and a transport helicopter allow players to execute new multiplayer tactics on the battlefield. A player can join a four-player team in two squad-only game modes. The players fight together to unlock exclusive awards and achievements. Battles are fought across expansive maps, each with a different tactical focus. The game also sees the return of the B Company squad in a more mature single-player campaign.
DARKSIDERS II -- One of the platform's most underrated games can now be played on the Xbox 360. The game continues the series' penchant for out-of-this world environments, exploration, and a deep and rewarding story. Known for it depth and top-notch game design, Darksiders II incorporates fantastic voice acting, impressive visuals, a huge variety of generated loot, and character-building options. One thing more, players can get to play Death himself.
Games with Gold titles can be downloaded for free for a limited time to Xbox Live Gold members in all markets where Xbox Live is available. Some regions may offer different titles depending on market availability.
Meanwhile, the Deals With Gold list for this week has been released. It features Dark Souls and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The latter, available for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, can be bought with 50 percent discount off its usual retail price.
