There will be no "sirs" who will appear in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse."

In a recent airing of "Larry King Now," Sir Patrick Stewart revealed that neither he nor Sir Ian McKellen will return for the next X-Men film, which is due for release in 2016.

Stewart said their characters as Professor X and Magneto were written out in "Apocalypse," which focuses on the New Class cast including James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.

"I was learning quite a lot more about (the film) last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters," Stewart explained.

"And so I don't think we'll be making an appearance," the 74-year-old actor added, referring to Director Bryan Singer's forthcoming film, according to the Independent.

Yahoo News earlier reported that the next film will once again focus on the younger characters of Professor X, Magneto, and Mystique portrayed respectively by McAvoy, Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.

However, the cliffhanger ending of the last X-Men film hinted that Stewart could appear in a future spin-off film such as "Gambit."

Earlier, it was officially announced that the new Marvel film will be bannered by Channing Tatum as the mutant, while Ryan Reynolds will be featured in a separate movie, "Deadpool."

"X-Men: Apocalypse," the third and final instalment of the new X-Men trilogy, will focus on the mutants' origins.

Oscar Isaac will join the cast as Apocalypse, while younger versions of such characters as Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm are also expected to appear.

The film will open in cinemas in May 2016.
