In an attempt to broaden their grasp on fans in India, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) seems to be linking itself to an Olympic wrestler from the nation.

Various reports claim that two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar may be the country's next professional wrestler to make it to the WWE.

Sportskeeda claimed that WWE's head of talent development Canyon Ceman has gone to New Delhi to personally meet with the 33-year-old's agent for a possible contract.

According to the report, there are various wrestling brands who are trying to get in touch with Kumar's people for a deal, which only increases the possibility of him making his professional wrestling debut later in 2017.

Sportskeeda claimed that a source told them: "We are planning on introducing Sushil to Pro Wrestling in late 2017, and we are also talking to various organizations including WWE to open a franchise in Delhi to groom young Indian Pro Wrestling talent."

Raman Rajeha, who handles Kumar's business in commercial efforts, also confirmed through the report that his client is talking to the WWE.

Rajeha said:"I can't obviously give you internal details of when we are meeting, etc., but I can confirm that Sushil is very much interested in growing a Pro Wrestling career now."

At 33 years old, it appears that Sushil Kumar has done all he can to help India be recognized in the sport of wrestling.

This time, he is now starting to move on and thinking of how he can earn from his expertise. Joining professional wrestling seems like a viable place to start.

The first Indian wrestler to crossover to the mainstream was the Great Khali, who made his name by battling the likes of WWE legend The Undertaker. If Kumar makes his way to the squared-circle, he may very well go up against today's big names such as John Cena and Roman Reigns.
