WWE rumors & news: SummerSlam 2016 title matches announced

With the new era of the World Wrestling Entertainment already underway, there are so many fans who are excited to see how the first pay-per-view event following the brand split will look.

Fortunately, they will not have to look very far as the WWE SummerSlam 2016 is just around the corner. According to Heavy, the much-anticipated event will take place Aug. 21 and will be available on PPV and the WWE Network.

The outlet has also revealed some pieces of information about the event, such as its official theme song by Fort Minor entitled "Welcome" and CFO$'s "Big Summer."

Furthermore, the event will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and it promises to be a packed house on the night of the event.

As for the two announced matches, it should be a spectacular night of action from both Raw and SmackDown Live rosters as both shows will have championship titles on the line in their respective battles.

For Raw, it is going to be the matchup for the recently revealed WWE Universal Title, wherein Seth Rollins will face off against Finn Balor.

Rollins is the number one pick of Raw and is easily one of the most popular characters in the industry. Rollins sides with Stephanie McMahon which makes him jeered by others, although his attitude is also one that makes him a favorite.

Meanwhile, Balor is a new face who comes from NXT and is immediately given the big push by the company.

After beating Roman Reigns for the chance to face Rollins, Balor will now have the opportunity to be the first WWE Universal Champion in the Raw roster.

For SmackDown Live, current WWE Champion Dean Ambrose is going to go against WWE veteran Dolph Ziggler who appears to be getting his own push to the top.

With many believing that Ziggler should have been pushed even before, he will get his chance now to claim the title and lead Smackdown Live.
