Ralph (John C. Reilly) in \"Wreck-it Ralph 2\" | Disney

Walt Disney Animation Studios has already greenlit the production of "Wreck-it Ralph 2," and the release date has been set on March 18, 2018. The 2012 worldwide hit has amassed a huge following coming from all ages, and it is a no-brainer that Disney will decide to continue Ralph's story as he and his friends venture into new things in the digital world. So far, the latest reports suggest that Ralph will be hitting the internet world in the sequel.

While the initial schedule of release of "Wreck-it Ralph 2" is still several months away, the public could not help but wonder if Ralph's next adventure will involve more pixel action like what the viewers have witnessed in the original film. Surprisingly, the creators of "Wreck-it Ralph" and the voice actor of Ralph himself have spilled some intriguing tidbits about the sequel's possible plotline.

Wreck-It Ralph 2 directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, and Ralph's voice actor, John C. Reilly, revealed in a Facebook Live video that the movie's protagonist will be hitting the internet world next. The first movie shows Ralph in a series of adventures and misadventures in the arcade world, and this time around, the giant hero is expected to try new things, specifically the world wide web.

"The world of the Internet is the perfect place to send Ralph and Vanellope," said Johnston as quoted by the Movie Pilot. "The scope and scale are so vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless."

Moore also revealed that the story of "Wreck-it Ralph 2" will happen in the present timeline, roughly six years after the events of the first movie. The director also promised that the sequel will be a very special offering from Disney as it is not often for the studio giant to allow sequels for their highly successful animated films. This would mean that "Wreck-it Ralph 2" will be different from the other films as it aims to provide something fresh and exciting for the moviegoers while keeping the same elements that made the first "Wreck-it Ralph" a massive hit.
